Before I comment, I’d love to read some more rationale on what these are?

the first one is so obvious that i didnt even need to know arabic to understand it which is a good thing and a bad thing.
The good thing is that its clear but we have learnt that obvious in your face ads like this dont really work. Look at the health warnings on the cigarette packs, just because theyre bigger and more blunt doesnt mean people will stop smoking.
People watching this ad will think this would never happen to them.
You need to speak directly to them, point the finger. What youre showing here is a family and someone died, it happens everyday all around the world. You cant shock the public anymore with all the movies and news out there.
The teddy bear is a really cheesy touch by the way.

The second ad, dont even bother asking me what that one is all about but its spooky enough to grab peoples attention and its not bad the way its done.
I think both these ads could have been done without the ad agency, i bet the director could have come up with something better on his or her own.

By the way Zeid, what happened to those terrible ads from Bahrian? why did you take them off?

Dont agree with you quickcomment (about the impact of fear filling ads) but still would like to get a rationale…

hey amre, Y&R don’t put names, they are afraid from people like you to steal them :)

    About the TVC 1:
First, the effects in the beginning are over and does not match the car motion.

Second, the accident should happen from the front side and not the back side as the driver was fast, so, for me this commercial is down.

About TVC 2: its a scary movie more than a commercial, I didn’t like at all.

Hi Ziad…Y&R actually do put the names, but it surprising they didnt on this one, or maybe Zeid didnt have them. I do hope that creative rules comes on and gives a rationale of these, because I would like to understand them better.

The one comment I can make right now is on the hands of the supposed child combing the doll, those dont look like a little girl’s hands at all and the speed of the combing does give a psycho feel to the ad, but maybe that was on purpose…

the only thing I like about them is the DOP work on the second one. Can I know who is he?

I think It’s tooooooooo similer if not the same to the famous MBC “do your prayer befor you die” aqim salatak qablamamatek
I wounder what MBC will say about That.

  • 11. amre husseini - AKA BITEME  |  November 5th, 2008 at 11:36 am

I didnt see that similarity at all to be honest with you except in the “fear” approach

  • 12. Leo & Art  |  November 6th, 2008 at 12:28 am

Whoever did this was “too inspired by MBC’s Aqimsalatek ” and just decided to duplicate it, and did such a lousy job.
From the beginning to the final Islamic burial ceremony.
