Agreed. This ad is very obscure. First, what is ‘Passive smoking’? is this a term coined by the creatives for this ad or is this a common street term that can easily be identified by the average joe who comes across this ad.
Second, where is this ad going to be featured? The agency is in Oman, but if that’s the target market, then using a bar with visible alcoholic beverages may not be a culturally-compatible image.
Then again, I am not sure if the blame should be on placed on the creatives alone. This could be a ‘client-driven’ concoction. We’ve all had those clients who come to the agency with sketches of what exactly they want to see and will ignore advice from the creatives regardless of validity.
