MBC Action, the new MBC channel for… guess what?

Middle East Broadcasting Corp. (MBC), the region’s top free-to-air TV network, has launched yet another channel. Breaking with its ‘number-naming’ tradition, the channel is called MBC Action.
MBC Action will screen shows like Lost, Prison Break and any other series classified as an ‘action series’. And it will show action films like Blade 2 , Collateral Damage and DareDevils Live.
You get the idea.
Marketing-wise, it seems MBC is refining its targeting, to offer a channel with a dominantly male audience, as it seems to have succeeded with the gender specific strategy of MBC4, which is aimed at women.
There’s an Arabic press release about it on MBC’s website.

shitty i guess, mbc4 isn’t for women.. the have good tv shows, that gender-ization that mbc follows is crap, kol eshe bedhom yefselo? tv for men and tv for women? jesus, why can’t they split due “interest” so gays and lesbians aren’t human now and can’t get a station? mbc = saudi = crap! sorry!

Moey and Nina, to you both ignorant morons. As a network they are providing great free to air services. You have to give MBC Group due respect for making such a difference onto our screens. It seemed natural to filter action material out of MBC-4 and onto a channel genre in of its own, rather the same way MBC-2 Movies came about out of MBC-1 Arabic. It’s a clean sign of logical, healthy progression of any successful company. As far as specific targeting, anyone would laugh if MBC broadcasted gun touting robots, high octane material and told us it was another ‘generic’ channel. We all know boys are more into this stuff than girls, and that’s us men like gun touting women. THINK
I wonder what Dr Phil would make out of all this!

i could not stay interested in watching the movie due to the extreme number of commercials - there were way too many commercials for a 2 hour movie - one would think that for a new premier that the producers would try to please the audience with a good movie and very few commercials - what a letdown

Im with ED on this one. I caught the premier of Lost and was absolutely mortified by the amount of ads the popped up every five minutes!! Its was a “healthy” balance between five minutes of the show and five minutes of ads.
I do understand MBC have to pay them bills but bloody hell, i nearly kicked the screen in frustration!
Cant say i have watched much of it since…

it is a good channel but you repeat the movies a lot and you have way too much comercial breaks. and the biggist misktake taking out Alias from the programs. big mistakes.
