Let me guess, the next one is a leaning statue of liberty and a leaning eiffel tower.
Vincent Fichard, these ads are straight from the 80’s, dont get me wrong i think ads from the 80s had the cleverest lines but this is an old and overused joke that everyone has heard. The worst thing is that it is not even a real client of Fortune promoseven.

Amre, Vespa is a classic Italian scooter that’s been around for ever.
Quick Comment, I think you’re being far too harsh saying it’s an idea from the 80’s. If you look at ads done then the copywriter ruled, there were huge headlines and the visual was almost secondary. Now people are too lazy and moving too fast to read anything so the art director rules. This is a visual ad with a twist and this. like it or not, is the current style.

Creative rules, im not talking about the copy im talking about the general style, look and feel of the whole ad. The whole thing is 80s and not just 80s but something i would see in a student portfolio during the 80s.
Thats the easiest way out, this is what the creatives must have thought, Mmmm…Italy and rest of the world. I know lets use the tower of pisa (again) and make everything lean to the side. Its the oldest & easiest visual connection in the book.
Is that all you can say about Vespa? its Italian? What is the benefit other than being Italian? See what I mean? its weak, its a first idea, theres no depth or insight behind it.

Bad idea.
Bad art direction.
So it is a bad copy too.

hey creative rules,
q: how many art directors does it take to change a lightbulb?
14. Creative Rules | August 5th, 2008 at 10:59 am
None. Because they don’t change a bloody thing.

or….
do we really need the lightbulb? couldn’t it be a candle?
