Knives that are ‘visually’ sharp
August 6th, 2006 Zeid Nasser (Admin)
This is an advertisement for Global Knives in Dubai, by TBWA\RAAD.
It’s a play on the concept of sharpness, demonstrating that the knife is so sharp-cutting that it’s also visually sharper than the background image.
It takes a few minutes to figure this one out!

Agree with you.
Must have been a case of mixed briefs….
Perhaps the account person / art director is alternately working on resolution/ visual sharpness focussed products, eg TVs, DVDs, etc. and have confused on approach.

I feel sharpness and blur are words more familiar with art persons in ad agencies. It will be totally lost on a housewife.
More an ad where the agency will congratulate themselves on their cleverness and will leave the the target audience totally confused.
