Let me explain how this ad must have come up.
(CW: Copywriter, AD: Art Director)
AD: “Nothing’s happening on our portfolio.”
CW: “Yeah, just boring tactical ads.”
AD: “We’re in GMASCO…no one’s going to give us another job.”
CW: “Yeah, we’re worthless.”
AD: “Hey…pass me that tape dispenser.”
CW: “Sure.”
AD: “What do you see?”
CW: “A tape dispenser.”
AD: “No idiot…it looks like Gandhi’s spinning wheel.”
CW: “Wow…you’re good.”
AD: “Say, I have an idea.”
CW: “Tell me.”
AD: “Let’s do an ad for Gandhi with this.”
CW: “Sounds good.”
AD: “Think of a line.”
CW: “What about the client?”
AD: “How about Scotch…the guys who make the tape?”
CW: “We don’t have that account.”
AD: “Haven’t you heard of Scam?”
CW: “Aha…nice…one for our portfolio.”
AD: “Here we go.”
CW: “Nice.”
AD: “Nice.”
CW: “Will we get out of Gmasco with this ad?”

Not funny Kusum…
Im afraid only Indians will understand this ad and the spinning wheel parallel, if they don’t take offense at it that is.
