Designers, bloggers for Lebanon

Designers and bloggers from around the region are using their skills to help Lebanon in the face of the ongoing Israeli attack.

This map is from a site that is providing updates on the aggression against Lebanon.

The Lebanese designer Zeina Maasri, who has co-developed this map, wrote:

We have done this map as it can clearly reveal the siege that
different cities/inhabitants have undergone and still suffer from, it
also shows how Israel’s fierce assault on Lebanon completely violates
the Geneva conventions & international law relative to respect for
human rights in armed conflicts, through its massive destruction of
vital civilian utility sites and infrastructure.

Jordanian designer Wael Attili started the campaign above, of people covering their mouth with their chosen message against the war or in support of Lebanon. Now there’s a Flickr group where people can post their photos.

A number of blogging communities and companies have also launched a Bloggers for Lebanon (Arabic link) campaign that aims to go beyond ‘talk’ and help collect donations of vital materials that are urgently needed in Lebanon.

And, finally there is re-Lebanon.org a site that is bringing together several donation campaigns. The aim of the site is the creation of a long term campaign that not only helps with aid, but extend into reconstruction efforts later. The site is very well designed and has a neat feature. Messages of support from people light up dots on a grid of pixels that would eventually for the Lebanese flag.
