Apart from the big news that Showtime Arabia has won the rights to the English Premier League, there have been sweeping changes in the look of the station and its channels as of today, 1 April.
The new channels have been branded Showcinema, Showmovies, Showkids, Showsports and Showseries…. etc.
Three new Showsports channels replace the previous Sportsnet channels, and should provide Showtime with a leap in subscribers just before the next football season starts in August.
Showtime Arabia promoted it’s new look, through teaser promos for the past couple of weeks, as the network continues to gain marketshare in spite of the free-to-air challenge of MBC Group channels which follow a similar formula in Western entertainment programming.
ART, losers of the Premier League rights, are yet to announce any major shift in strategy to cope with the potential fall-out next season.
Without a doubt, there will be plenty of football-associated sponsors, like Snickers and Pepsi who will move to Showtime.

Here’s something you don’t see everyday!
Group Plus, an outdoor media owner and operator across the region, has unveiled this fantastic Hummer outdoor promotion in the UAE. The campaign is entitled “Hummer Special Operation”.
According to Group Plus, “The outdoor aims at delivering the message ‘Taking you to what lies beyond the borders of your imagination’ through lifting a Hummer and placing it right smack in the middle of a gigantic wall sign in Dubai.”
Impressive, without a doubt.

Apparently this is a log change and not a full re-branding of Cisco. The change took effect earlier this month.
Here is what identity guru Tony Spaeth wrote on his site identityworks about Cisco’s new logo:
Identityworks: Reviews - 2006 - Cisco:
Cisco brand officer Gary McCavitt had long struggled with the bridge-in-a-box logo, a mark difficult to use, difficult to put on products, and dated in personality. In October, 2005 he retained the typemaster (and logo designer) Joe Finocchiaro to explore alternatives; and Joe, recognizing the importance of the project, generously proposed adding corporate brand designer Jerry Kuyper to the team. CEO John Chambers approved Gary’s design initiative, imposing one condition: “the DNA of our bridge must be retained.”
