    FORCED :)

  • 7. restless  |  January 27th, 2008 at 4:07 pm

    Sorry,
After a second thought I think that the similarity is exist between the phone and the bomb but the thing is the headline doesn’t complement the visual, actually what I understand from this ad is that I should be careful from where I throw my bomb that looks like a mobile !!! (that’s really confusing :), so if its me who is doing this ad I would have reshaped the mobile to look a like bomb, !!! And not vice versa

    thanks

AbdallaH, Congratulations. You win the comment of the day prize and we’ll be sending you an ImpactBBDO Abu Dhabi fridge magnet and a pack of glow in the dark post it notes.

“not clean, i didn’t get the message until i read the line in the bottom.”

Kind of like saying ‘I watched Star Wars with the sound down and didn’t get it.’

You rock, and have brightened up our rainy afternoon.

I think the idea here is that mobiles are used in detonating bombs, in this case a grenade. Very touchy subject matter boys.

  • 11. Minx0r  |  January 27th, 2008 at 5:28 pm

    oooh Vegas in the house!

I watched Star Wars on mute, the whole trilogy actually. 9 hours of imagination, sexual connotations (leila and jubba the hutt are just the ultimate kink duo!) and laughter.

Unfortunately, your ad isnt as entertaining.

PS: if Impact BBDO are giving away free fridge magnets are they also giving away jobs to those desperate enough to relocate ?

  • 12. Vegas  |  January 27th, 2008 at 5:52 pm

We just hired 4 Ewoks in the creative department. They commute down from Dubai on jet bikes they stole off Storm troopers. They’re not very good, but we only have to pay them in Wookie fur, which they take home to their wives, who spin it into small scarves for Bratz Dolls.
So no jobs at the moment, but Ewoks cant handle the heat so I imagine they’ll start dropping like flies in a few months. Maybe then.

  • 13. Minx0r  |  January 27th, 2008 at 6:13 pm

    *drools*

are the jet bikes included in company package or I got get mine off some American SWars fan boi on eBay ?

  • 14. Gibbo  |  January 27th, 2008 at 6:24 pm

Don’t love it, dont hate it though.

As a past Abu Dhabi creative, love the Khaleej Times. They’ll print any scam ad.

This advertising is really hard to understand…I get the poin after I read from Abdallah Sumrin. The bottom text line should be enlarge.

  • 19. AbdallaH SumriN  |  January 28th, 2008 at 11:14 am

Vegas, respect others if you can’t pls don’t post or go some where else pls…

    anyway still not clean… NEXT

  • 20. Minx0r  |  January 28th, 2008 at 12:04 pm

    #19 has an epeen!!!!!

respect is something mutual mate. Slating an ad is not being ‘respectful’. However, giving negative comment and putting down why is more constructive and, in this case, ‘respectful’

    RESTECPA!

  • 21. Anti Visual Pollution  |  January 28th, 2008 at 3:51 pm

When someone attempts to steal an idea, simulate a visual, or copycat an artwork, s/he should make it looks much better than the original to get the credit. Check the following old poster for an Israeli Poster Artist. Simply, there is no comparison.

    http://www.lemel.co.il/menu/humor_html/grenade.html

See how a poor advertisment tells so much about it’s agency.

  • 22. Creative Rules  |  January 28th, 2008 at 4:05 pm

    I like the idea.

The headline is wrong because you’re led to believe that you should be careful where you throw your actual mobile.

When in fact you should be careful where you throw your mobile battery.

Secondly the grenade is far too old fashioned and thgerefore make sthe client look old and tired.

The Israeli one looks far better and more modern.

Not sure who was first but I doubt that an AD agency would have access to Israeli posters.

So it’s a coincidence in my opinion.

  • 23. amre husseini - AKA BITEME  |  January 28th, 2008 at 4:18 pm

The Israeli one is nice, too bad we cant read hebrew…but guys 20 posts later…I still dont get it:)

  • 24. Vegas  |  January 28th, 2008 at 4:37 pm

Listen, first let me say, I have no problem ripping off ideas from artists, young children, pensioners, people in wheel chairs and Hootie and the Blowfish fans, just as long as they are not ads.
But this wasn’t one of those cases. Sorry Mr Pollution.
the image of a hand grenade works because the old style pineapple version has about the same number of little bumps as the keypad on a mobile, which also fits in your hand. Seems to me the israeli bloke was using keys from a keyboard, isn’t that a different idea? Looks cool though.

  • 25. ihab  |  January 28th, 2008 at 5:01 pm

Vegas: shame on you man.. get loss

  • 26. Minx0r  |  January 28th, 2008 at 5:14 pm

    ROFL!

more pantz0r hardc0re epeens! ‘loss’ pffft! My Arabic isn’t that pantz0r ffs!

Vegas is right, hell I would steal ideas from pensioners just to help the world with one less pensioner! Vegas would do it for the right reason(s).

  • 27. Vegas  |  January 28th, 2008 at 5:15 pm

Now come on ihab, dont be like that.

If i lend you my Hootie and Blowfish best of Cd will you cheer up.

  • 28. ihab  |  January 28th, 2008 at 5:31 pm

  • 30. Vegas  |  January 28th, 2008 at 5:47 pm

    Crazy?
I’ll tell you what’s crazy. How much Hootie and the Blowfish sounded like Pearl Jam if you shut your eyes.

  • 33. supersonic  |  January 29th, 2008 at 1:56 am

i like it, but something in the composition is not right you’re looking at the concrete floor from above while the grenade and its shadow are being viewed from a front view angle

  • 34. Tricky  |  February 6th, 2008 at 11:40 pm

i dont mind throwing my mobile on you all nerds out there

  • 35. Kalpesh Patel  |  February 8th, 2008 at 1:57 am

nice piece. sorry guys. Personal opinion is that the execution could be much better. shadow looks awful. Like the old paper texture wasn’t required at all. maybe a heap of garbage or the mouth of a sewer would’ve looked better. (who knows). But i love the thought. I have dumped a mobile battery into a bonfire to see if it actually happens.. just for kicks. lol.
