August 15th, 2006 Zeid Nasser (Admin)
BBC World Service has been operating an Arabic radio service for decades, and has had an Arabic news site for some time.
Now, it’s planning an Arabic TV channel, and has started recruiting senior editorial staff for it, with a plan to launch in autumn 2007.
According to AMEInfo, BBC Arabic TV will initially broadcast for 12 hours a day, free to air, through cable or satellite connection. BBC news and information in audio and text in Arabic will run for the other 12 hours.
