The front cover of the latest issue of The Economist says “Who Killed the Newspaper”.
Imagine that, newspapers being pronounced dead already!
Obviously, it’s too early, but it could be gradually happening as newspapers in the US and Europe are firing staff, reducing costs and accepting advertising deals at lower rates!
Apparently, newspapers who don’t successfully migrate to the Internet are losing readers, and those who do are getting more readers on the online edition than they ever did on the print edition!
The only problem is that they don’t make a decent amount of money online yet.
Time to change everything in the newspaper business, don’t you think?
And here’s a very expressive graphic image.

“We’re for the Under-Dogs too”
A few days ago, it was announced that Pluto lost it’s status as a planet.
TBWA\RAAD in Dubai decided to take this opportunity to create an advertisement for Pedigree dog food.
The global tagline for Pedigree is “We’re for dogs”, so the agency added a ‘twist’ to it to suit the occasion.
Also, note the dog’s shadow pictured in the ad …. it’s Walt Disney’s Pluto.
Smart indeed!
Client: Pedigree dog food

Following the success and controversy raised by Apple’s “I’m a Mac, I’m a PC” campaign, three more commercials have been produced.
The same characters are featured- a ‘cool’ Mac owner and a ’stuffy’ PC owner- and the idea is to highlight how great it is to own a Macintosh opposed to the boring, troublesome PC!
Whether you agree with that or not is up to you, but these commercials will cause a commotion this week.
See them at Apple’s website.
