Google allays click fraud fears

ClickFraudGoogle

Responding to concerns about click fraud in the online-ad industry, Google will be revealing to advertisers the number of invalid clicks on their ads with changes it’s set to make to its AdWords system late Tuesday, CNET reported.

Now advertisers will be able to see the number of invalid clicks Google found, as well as what percentage that represents of total clicks registered, said Shuman Ghosemajumder, business product manager for trust and safety at Google.

Industry reports say fraudulent clicks range from 14.6 percent to as high as 29.5 percent of total clicks.

YouTube serving 100 million videos a day

YouTubeLebanon

This has got to be the biggest online success story of the past 12 months. YouTube, which only started last year, is now serving up more than 100 million videos per day.

YouTube is a video sharing site that enables any user to upload a video, which can then be viewed by site visitors. The site is the perfect example of user-driven and user-generated media and is host to every interest in the world.

For example, amidst the conflicts in Lebanon and Gaza, users on both sides are uploading their ‘home videos’ of the war and its turning into a ‘video battle’.

Lighter topics that where big in July include the Zidane headbutt in the World Cup Final.

It’s also fast becoming the database of the world’s TV commercials, with AdBlogArabia linking to YouTube for most TV commercials we blog about.

YouTube has emerged as the undisputed market leader in online video with 29 percent of the U.S. multimedia entertainment market according to web traffic measurement site Hitwise.

Statistics by Hitwise in the United States reveal that 60 percent of all videos watched online are through YouTube.

These statistics can be seen at the Hitwise Press Center.

BBC World Weather brought to you by Qatar Airways

QatarAirways

Qatar Airways continues to increase its profile worldwide, with an announcement of sponsoring the BBC World Weather Report, for the next 12-month.

The agreement gives the airline “credits on two weather broadcasts a day”. BBC World is a top English-language news source in the Middle East, Indian sub-Continent and Asia Pacific regions; all of which are Qatar Airways’ strategic markets.

Qatar Airways had also recently added live streaming of BBC World on its Airbus A330 aircraft for Middle East and European flights.

This is a big year for Qatar Airways, who are a main sponsor of the 15th Asian Games and have embarked on an international campaign to promote the games and the airline as the official carrier.

The airline’s website demonstrates its ambition with multiple-languages available, including: Chinese, Japanese, Thai, French, Italian, German and more.

World running out of space…

UNFPA

Here’s a simple and effective idea. An advertisement that ran on World Population Day, by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

In some countries in the world, like India where this ad probably comes from, they are running out of space!

Technorati turns 3 and launches re-design

TechnoratiTurns3

For those of you who don’t know it- where have you been for the last three years- Technorati has today unveiled a new look. The re-design is more ‘user focused’ highlighting top blog posts and more featured bloggers.

Describing exactly what Technorati does is as difficult as defining the revolution that drives it: blogging.

But here’s our quick definition:
Technorati aggregates blog posts from over 50 million blogs (and increasing everyday), creating a one-stop website where you can search a topic or ‘tag’ and see what everyone’s saying about it, with every search result linking to the blog source.

You will notice that below every post on AdBlogArabia, we’ve got a green set of links which are Technorati Tags. These basically tell Technorati under which Tag terms to archive our post link.

Simple, isn’t it? Yet, Arab bloggers need to get more connected to Technorati, and therefore use it as a bridge to speak to an international audience.

This also applies to Middle Eastern marketers who must realize the potential of Technorati to get brand-related posts listed on it.

So disappointing is our region’s knowledge of Technorati that most of the Tags we create here for regional company names and products end up being the first ever Technorati listing of that word!

Anyway, get going and visit Technorati.

Biggest & highest Nescafe mug in the world

Inflatables

This picture of a Nescafe branded building is from Venezuela’s capital, Caracas, and must be among the largest inflatables in the world.

More importantly, it must be among the highest placed inflatables. Wouldn’t the strength of the wind at such altitudes be dangerous?

I’m not sure what’s the significance of the Pepsi sign (obviously not an inflatable) on the nearby building, but that’s the picture available at BriefBlog.
