If you don’t like PR people, don’t be in Dubai from September 17 to 20, 2006
Because, its the time of the ‘great PR gathering’ of public relations professionals from all over the Middle East, and many from around the world.
The Public Relations Congress 2006 is organized by IIR Middle East in association with the Middle East Public Relations Association (MEPRA) and is sponsored by LG Electronics and MediaStow and the official PR partner is Orient Planet.
Now here’s something interesting: There will be a ‘PR Professional Of The Year’ competition.
Any ‘pro’ can present his/her credentials for this award, through online registration forms that can be accessed at the PR Congress site.
Should be interesting!

I got this ad by email from the Four Points Sheraton in Beirut (apparently).
Can anyone provide some insight here?

Nice, but it’s been done before for other products.
The photo shows the ‘break glass’ unit on a wall inside a house. Surely, that’s not the right target market for ‘loyalty marketing consultancy services’?
Probably, the idea is to stick it in business offices, buildings and such areas. Right?
Maybe someone from ICLP Loyalty can enlighten us.

The painful incidents in Lebanon and Palestine are bringing Arab bloggers together, uniting in a message of support and a demand for peace.
It’s the new media revolution, serving a noble cause.
Is the world listening?

Just as there are magazines and TV channels dedicated to Arab women, there are websites which cater to their interests.
Up until a couple of years ago, research and website stats showed that males were more active on the Internet than females in Arab countries.
To me, these numbers were baffling, seeing as the females are more ‘communicative’ than males and therefore Internet services such as email, chatting, messaging and telephony are suited more to females.
Apparently, females are now demonstrating their Internet power, ensuring that Saudi-based site Hawaa World is a top ten Arab site in every major Internet market. It now attracts advertisers from all over the region.
Accordingly, Maktoob.com has thrown its hat into the ring, with Maktoob Women, sponsored by Nestle, and it’s expected that other portals will follow.
So, at the moment, marketers are taking aim at Arab women on the Internet. It should be interesting to see how this plays out.

This is impressive. It’s by the Tonga Workroom in Shanghai, China.
It takes some effort to replace the image every few days, or maybe they can come up with some mechanism to drop the image the more you pull out towels.
Anyway, if you visit advertising blogs then you’ll notice the amount of ‘Toilet Media’ circulating
For some reason, it seems to be a trend. Don’t worry, we’ll only show you a few examples!

Clever advertisement. It’s not clear who is the agency behind it, but the creative team are Jaywant Dabholkar, Porus Jose, Tushar Mahajan.
